Estimated from typical digital SAT curves on released practice tests. Module 2 difficulty is the routing signal: harder means you cleared Module 1, easier means the capped scale. Treat the total as a center, not a promise.

Questions

How many questions are on the digital SAT?

Ninety-eight. Reading & Writing has 54 questions across two 27-question modules, and Math has 44 questions across two 22-question modules. A handful are unscored pretest items, but they are not marked, so treat every question as if it counts.

How many questions can I miss and still get a 1500?

Roughly six across the whole test on a typical curve: about three in Reading & Writing and three in Math, assuming a balanced 750/750 split. The chart above shows the same math for every target from 1000 to 1600.

Is the SAT curved?

Not in the classroom sense. Nobody’s score depends on how other students did that day. Each form is equated, so a raw score converts through a conversion table set in advance, and the adaptive second module changes which table applies. Easier August form, slightly harsher conversion, and vice versa.

What is a good SAT score?

The national average total sits near 1050. Around 1200 puts you in roughly the top quarter of test takers, 1350 near the top ten percent, and 1500 or higher in about the top two percent.

How accurate is this calculator?

The conversion is interpolated from released digital SAT practice-test curves, and real administrations land close to them. Because the test is adaptive, the same number of right answers can scale slightly differently depending on module difficulty, which is why the result shows a likely range instead of a single promise.

When do August 2026 SAT scores come back?

Digital SAT scores typically release within about two weeks of test day, posted to your College Board account. Once you have the real report, the section scores slot straight into the charts on this page.
